THE HIGHEST RACE IN WEST VIRGINIA!
The Mountain Institute's Run For the Hills Race
Save the date - October 10th
Rumours have been running around the West Virginia running scene
of a possible race on Spruce Knob, the
highest peak in the state. After much debate
on the length of the race it has finally
been decided that the first Run for the
Hills race day will have two distances;
a half marathon (13.1 miles) and a 5 km
race (3.1 miles).
What better way to spend a nice Fall weekend than
up on Spruce Knob looking at all the beautiful
Fall foliage and to run a race! For all you leaf
peepers there isn't a more enchanting place to
see the bright colors of Autumn!
The course maps are now available on the 5 km and half marathon pages.

We NEED Volunteers!
As with any race we are asking for friends
and family of the racers, and anyone else
interested in a fun weekend at Spruce Knob
to volunteer their services to help our
race weekend run more smoothly. It is always
nice to see a friendly face giving out
the drinks after 10 miles of a hilly half
marathon! All volunteers will have
free food over the weekend for
their efforts. Anyone interested, please
contact Katrina Weyland at kweyland@mountain.org
Thank you!
